At 5 Layer Fitness we believe the 5 qualities of the mind; patience, concentration, determination, faith, self-control are the essential tools to building the 5 layers of vibrant health; physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and physiological fitness.
The 5 Layer Method:
Concentration: We help you unlock the power of the present moment by challenging you to stay connected to the experience through meditation and focused awareness. We believe that a deep-rooted level of focused awareness helps to build a healthy mind through the efforts of a disciplined body.
Determination: We honor your good days and bad days and will inspire you to persevere through hardship - inside and outside of the studio’s walls. We believe that your physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and physiological fitness improve when you show up consistently.
Faith: We believe that strength comes from within and empower you with the confidence you’ll need to keep moving forward, even through life’s challenges. It takes a significant amount of support and connection to build vibrant health. No one does it alone, but it must be earned alone.
Self-Control: Intelligent action comes from a state of calm. We’ll teach you to move thoughtfully and from a non-reactive place and foster your ability to grow mentally and spiritually. We believe that calm, careful, intelligent action keeps you rooted in the process of becoming all you are capable of becoming.
Patience: We aren’t in the business of quick fixes - we believe in wellness as a lifestyle that requires persistence, grit, and dedication. We go slow, we move intelligently. We want you to stay strong into your wiser years, so we teach a sustainable method that can age with you.
My introduction to yoga was a godsend. A friend suggested I try yoga during a very difficult and trying time in my life. Initially, I dabbled. As I began to feel some benefits, I dove in. Yoga came to heal all my physical aches and injuries. But it’s not why I originally began practicing. I began practicing for stress-relief and mental clarity. It was through the mental clarity that my practice gave me that I was able to see that I had gone about fitness in an unhealthy way. Through the process of learning how to exercise more intuitively, I then became obsessed with learning how the mind and body work. I realized that human beings are never taught how to take care of the most important assets in their life. I developed a desire to help people stay strong and healthy and most importantly learning along the way. Without learning, there is no growth. And without growth, we take ourselves one step closer to the grave. I learned that I am in control of the evolution of my physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It should not be left in the hands of anyone or anything else. It is a responsibility! My experience was to learn that responsibility. My responsibility now is to help people become stronger and share with them great tools to create vibrant health.
